Frequently asked questions

If yours is not here, ask — the answer usually ends up on this page.

Does it work without a signal?

Yes, and that is the normal case rather than a fallback. Everything a surveyor records is written to the phone first and sent when there is a connection. Because each record is created with its own identifier, an upload that was interrupted and retried later cannot become a second copy of the same item.

Is there an iPhone app?

Not yet — the installable app is Android. On an iPhone the same screens run in Safari, and adding the site to the Home Screen makes it open like an app and keeps you signed in. An iOS build is planned.

Can we use our own report wording and letterhead?

Yes. Your logo and address block, your standard clauses, your section headings and the order they appear in — set once and used everywhere, and overridable for a particular client who wants it their way.

What formats do reports come out in?

Word and PDF for the file, and Excel for the client’s own working. Reports are sent as an expiring link rather than as an attachment, so nothing bounces off a mail server for being too large.

Can we import the shipper’s packing list?

Yes, in whatever column order it arrives in. The import wizard works out which column is which, shows you ten rows to check, and only then commits. Re-importing a corrected list keeps the photographs already taken against the items.

Who can see our surveys?

Only your own staff. Every company has a separate database rather than a filter over a shared one, so there is no query that could return another firm’s work. Within your company, office staff see everything and a surveyor sees only the jobs assigned to them — which is what lets you give an external surveyor an account without opening your book to them.

What happens to our data if we leave?

It is yours. Reports and registers export to Word, PDF and Excel at any time, and a full copy of your database can be taken on request. Nothing is held hostage.

How is it backed up?

Nightly, with each company archived and verified separately and a copy taken off the server. Restoring has been rehearsed rather than assumed, and a snapshot is taken before every release so a bad change can be undone.

How long does it take to get started?

A first job can be raised the same afternoon. Your customers, your report wording and your branding are worth an hour to set up properly, but none of it is required before you start — a job needs a reference, a client and a date.

What does it cost?

It depends on how many surveyors you have and which of the three modules you need, so we would rather talk about it than publish a figure that turns out to be wrong for you. Ask, and you will get a straight answer.

Still deciding?

A demonstration answers more in half an hour than a page of questions does.
